Standardised Sourcing Solution for a Global Client
Timeline: 18 Months
Problem statement: Global organisation with diverse sourcing toolkits and platforms.
Solution: Post the analysis and product selection, the delivery included consolidating the multiple solutions down to a single platform with a standardised, global process suite. Spanning North America, EMEA and APAC, the delivery had to ensure that consolidated processes were fit for purpose across multiple markets and jurisdictions, taking into account diverse working practices, varied reporting approaches (both client facing and internal operations and finance), etc...
With offices in over 40 countries plus double that amount being traded with so there was additional set up to allow for tax complexities for the Sourcing platform and integrated ERP solution (WorkDay).
Engagement across the organisation had to consider how each region and country adopted change management for both operational and finance teams as well as language barriers, regional and cultural diversity, etc…
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the implementation phase and ensure that a governance model was both implemented and followed. The implementation was progressive and after a considered start, the careful discovery and planning phases paid dividends and led to a successful implementation. As part of the implementation, Lanterna (IT) Ltd was able to deliver operational and system savings of circa £1.6m per annum.
Standardised Sourcing Solution for an EMEA wide Client
Timeline: 12 Months
Problem statement: EMEA based organisation with diverse sourcing toolkits and platforms.
Solution: After an initial deployment stalled, a period of review and consolidation took place. The review not only considered the existing chosen product but also how the product was used, its roadmap, how it integrated, etc…
Engagement across the organisation had to consider the solution’s previous internal bad press, slow system adoption, bad practice and poor training. An in-depth review was undertaken to establish how best to progress and ensure that the solution was implemented, trained and managed.
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the implementation phase. The re-commenced implementation was well planned, and ultimately executed, to ensure that system adoption was maximised which ultimately led to a successful implementation.
Digital Solutions for a National Outsourced Medical Supplies & Logistics Organisation
Timeline: 26 Months
Problem statement: Dated IT systems, infrastructure and Services required a complete transformation.
Solution: With dated IT systems, infrastructure and services come issues! Together with multiple sites, the organisation was struggling to achieve its strategic goals and deliver its key transformation programme. Implementing a completely new and fully resilient WAN infrastructure was the foundation block for building the remaining roadmap’s success. Site server room, site LAN (including WiFi), EUC refresh and email transformation (client and Exchange) coupled with a comprehensive overhaul of the business and IT policies and procedures was required to ensure the transformation would complete.
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the Digital transformation. Executing a challenging design to ensure that the system refresh was maximised which ultimately led to a successful implementation.

Timeline: 6 Months
Problem statement: New infrastructure requirement for a public sector organisation.
Solution: Whilst the design had been agreed, the implementation plan needed creating, reviewing and managing to ensure that delivery kept to the tight timelines which aligned to the organisation’s twice-yearly implementation phases.
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the implementation phase to ensure that the aggressive timelines were met. By closely engaging with all stakeholders, in both private and public sectors, the solution was delivered to the timelines, to budget and within the governance mandated across both organisations.
Outsourced Print & Digital Solutions for a Global Banking Client
Timeline: 27 Months
Problem statement: Global Banking outsourced print and mail for the first time. The client had recently outsourced print and mail solutions to its partner for 10 years. As part of the agreement, a key site was required to close, transitioning the print and mail capability to a site over 150 miles away, implementing a contractually obligated “Target Operating Model” to optimise savings. Within the scope of works, a further site within the network would require IT remediation and optimisation.
Solution: Engaging across 2 organisations can be challenging. Even more so when an organisation outsources for the first time within a particular part of the business that had been previously an intrinsic part of their operations. The work was extensive, covering the consolidation and merging of print services including concurrent site capacity management and migration to minimise any SLA failures or other associated potential negative impacts. Delivery, installation & configuration of printing & enclosing devices & PCI level secure PIN printing solution. Development of a strategic approach to onsite mail consolidation, delivering significant client mail savings. Coordination with the end client to ensure any print changes are impacted & included within delivery schedule. Engagement with the end client to ensure site volume migration between sites aligned with migration schedule (closely aligned to the postal workstream). Management of product & service transitions including plans, documentation & new workflow development. Key site closure & decommissioning of surplus resources to deliver £40m in savings over 10 years.
Achieving the “Target Operating Model” Workstream included transforming print services to a contractual TOM while transitioning and re-mapping business processes. Design and implementation of a strategic disaster recovery and business continuity solutions and built digital print white paper solution. Implementation front / back office IT infrastructure & VoIP telephony solution. Delivery of an MI / billing solutions & led development team in delivery of bespoke software development.
“IT Remediation” included IT remediation project with £1m budget encompassing a complete infrastructure and software refresh and migration of all site print jobs to new platforms, ensuring test planning met all organisational standards and compliance.
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the transition, transformation and remediation efforts to a successful conclusion.
Digital Solutions for a National Outsourced Pharmaceutical Organisation
Timeline: 6 Months
Problem statement: With aged IT systems comes issues! Coupled with a diverse network of sites, antiquated IT infrastructure and poor capacity management controls, the organisation was struggling to achieve its strategic goals and deliver its key transformation programme.
Solution: Spending time analysing the existing solutions, planning how best to approach and tackle the issues faced without risking negative impact to operations was key to a successful engagement. One of the first steps was to present options on how to ensure that the back-office systems could have a robust and secure location that also provided resiliency, which was lacking with the existing set up.
Working closely with the organisation’s IT architecture, a data centre capability was presented, utilising existing site capacity and capabilities that provided the comprehensive resiliency needed to drive the business forward. In parallel, a new WAN solution was selected, again providing resiliency which had also been lacking.
Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the review, design and planning phases and present an achievable design, timeline and solution.
Digital Solutions for a Global Engineering Client
Timeline: 27 Months
Problem statement: End client Ecosystem integration & technology refresh.
Solution: Having extensive experience of both the market sector and the technology, Lanterna (IT) Ltd was engaged to lead the implementation and transition. Implementation of a multi-tenant global MS Azure, private & public cloud & Dell BOOMI service solution. Rationalisation of existing MS Azure tenants & subscriptions & deployed templates & security hardening to VMs. Work closely with the organisation’s InfoSec teams, to provide data guidelines & assist business units to ensure standards implemented & compliance met for the creation of a corporate data lake. Implementation of a global Citrix solution & network infrastructure solutions with £5.2m budget. Implementation of Workday ERP & Coupa solution to regional standard template, meeting geographic compliance. Full test lifecycle management & development & implementation of bespoke applications for use on Citrix VDI. The repackaging 300 COTS applications for effective use & consolidated software licences to save costs. Management of a 3rd party to conduct security review and reviewed the results to define programme approach. Implementation of back-office IT infrastructure including server, storage & networking to enable connectivity. Deployment of circa 500 EUC devices, iPhones & RSA tokens globally & Citrix VDI solution. Conducted full review of server estate which led to the decommissioning 600 services & servers saving circa £900k p.a. Transition of IT operations monitoring processes following ITIL v3 processes while managing migration.
An initial part of the engagement covered the consolidation of another part of the end client’s business. This involved, implementing Workday ERP & Coupa solution to regional standard template & ensure that it met with geographic compliance. Delivery of a domain migration and back-office IT infrastructure including storage, server and networking. Transition of IT operations monitoring processes, managed capacity & analysis for migration activities. A key element was the development of transition plans & service take on documentation, managing product & service transition.
